How much would a spin around the block cost in depreciation?Honda has a cult following for a lot of their bikes, especially a classic still brand new in it's crate.

Toys are built to be played with, so I'm not a fan of the "still in the package" collectibles market.Honda has a cult following for a lot of their bikes, especially a classic still brand new in it's crate.

I agree. I would rather see a nice old bike with original paint and patina than one with a bright shiny new paint job. I think those weird graphics Japanese bikes have had over the decades are difficult to replicate. They never seem to look quite right. They’re only original once as collectors like to say.How much would a spin around the block cost in depreciation?
I don't want to run a museum so it's off my shopping list.
The curator of a wooden boat museum commented that when you restore a battered hull to its pristine, from the factory glory, you destroy its history. Every dent, scratch, coat of paint and bit of rot is part of its story. He added, "but people won't pay to see a battered, rotting hull."
Definitely priced for the good ol days crowd and everyone reliving their youth. I've owned both and I agree I'm faster on the 450 but in terms of smiles per mile the 500 wins. Prices on these classic 2T's are high but as the nostalgia crowd grow older the prices will fall.Toys are built to be played with, so I'm not a fan of the "still in the package" collectibles market.
As for the 9 cfr's line, there's no comparison between the 2 bikes. I'm sure virtually every rider would be faster in any circumstance on a crf450 than on the 500, but the grin followed by the terrified shriek produced on the 500 would be something.
They're a relic of the good ol' days. I still remember watching Marty Smith (privateer) winning the 500 cc USGP on Wide World of Sports on channel 7 riding a yz465.
There's a Canadian company that makes 500cc 2 stroke conversions. Not cheap, but they exist.

RNM at $33,000 USDThis baby came up for sale a little while back with only 3 miles on the odometer. I think it sold for $25,000 US. I would kill for that bike.![]()
