Custom one-off machine/cnc work?

Not to put a damper (pardon the pun) on your plans, but how do you know that new one still won't be too loud? Doesn't look like it does much, if any, db "killing".

Is this what your inserts look like? There are only 2 small slots for the exhaust to exit, so lopping off the end of (or the entire) tube should make a significant difference. Then you can decide whether you still need the new one. And if you saw it off clean, you can always weld it back together if you change your mind.

No i have the ā€œupdatedā€ version thatā€™s not capped, like this

They still choke it too much sound wise but also sap power on the top end, that i can feel it.

call me a hooligan or whatever. iā€™m looking for something that takes 10-20% of the edge off but doesnā€™t go too far.

LOL. A hooligan would just remove them and be done.

I actually have a similar problem with my KTM's Akrapovic baffles. They sound so much better removed, but on the highway they're ear-piercing. When I reinstall them, I tell myself it's nice to be stealth again, but I do miss that sound.
