so good!
You should also watch the original 1971 film, starring Richard Roundtree. It hits much differently. Then there's the Wayans Brothers "I'm gonna Git You Sucka" that's a take-down of Blackspoitation films.Watched Shaft. It was very entertaining. On Netflix
Samuel L Jackson was hilarious as usual.

I am of the vintage to have seen the original Shaft. My wife found this newer one, which I didn't think would be too good, but it was. Love that Richard Roundtree was in this one too. I think that I can show you one of my favourite bits from the movie, without really spoiling anything.I am of the vintage to have seen the original Shaft. We’ve started to watch some of the older movies too. Funny as De Niro and Al Pacino have come up in a few. It was more about acting, a good story and less special effects.Watched these two classics lately

Heat was on my radar for a re-watch, Casino I just decided to as these two movies released the same year both with De Niro. He kinda plays a similar character in both.
I dunno what it is about older generation movies around this time, but they knew how to write, and tell stories, and the actors delivered, without needing to be over the top with action, sfx etc. For directing Scorsese gets a bit more of an edge over Mann. The opening sequence of Casino is just well done and seamless and sets up everything perfectly.
Maybe it's the classic "things were better when we were younger" but this is something that crossed my mind when out for a ride yesterday. There's so very few movies that come out anymore that are iconic films you'll want to go back and rewatch unlike so many classics from the 90's-00's.Watched these two classics lately

My favourite Deniro movie is “Taxi Driver” . It’s just so raw and intense. I must have seen it five times before I realized Harvey Keitel played the pimp and Martin Scorsese played one of the passengers. We’ve started to watch some of the older movies too. Good thing about getting old is you can watch them and only a scene or two are remembered but the rest of the story is brand new.![]()
