Motorcycle dashcams

I spent some time using the SEARCH feature, but couldn't find any threads on bike specific "dashcams"...
If anyone knows of one already underway... I beseech thee for a linky.
If there isn't one...
Any recommendations..?
Surfing the amazon I see units as low as $60 and as high as $500...
Any techy GTAMers who can shed some light on what's good to know... Please share.

There has certainly been some discussion on using action/dash cams for recording on a moto previously.

Good place to start;

I know there was more chatter, just gotta find the threads..

I think mine is similar if not identical to this one:

It's not too bad, but good luck trying to pull a license plate number if the vehicles aren't stopped and close. It's supposed to have night vision.
Everything fits under the seat, and it records in chunks and overwrites automatically. I did have to buy a high endurance SD card for it.

Here's an example:

I recently bought a Vantrue F1:

Just have to spend a moment and install it.

Here’s a more recent thread on the subject:

In my opinion the key to a good motorcycle camera is that it needs to be set it and forget it. You wire it into a switched power source on your bike and it automatically turns on when you start your bike, turns off when you stop the bike, and you never need to remember to do anything. I used to use an action camera way back, the kind with an on/off switch, and the problem with those is sometimes you forget to turn it on.

The camera I have now is called "blueskysea b1m", it was just over $100 on aliexpress. It doesn't seem to be available anymore, but here's one on amazon that is very similar at has good reviews: https://www.amazon.ca/VSYSTO-Motorcycle-Recorder-G-Sensor-Recording/dp/B081YMLTFY/

I used to recommend people spend more money on higher quality cameras, but these days even the cheap ones seem good enough. Mine is clear enough to capture the licence plate of a car in front or behind me, which is all I need.

It comes in several pieces, the main piece sits under your seat and it's where you put the memory card, you wire it into a switched power source. Then there are two cameras you attach with a long wire, one is mounted somewhere near the front of your bike facing forward, and another one I mounted to my rear licence plate holder. There's also a controller with some buttons on it, but I didn't bother hooking it up, I find it useless, all I need the camera to do is record and it does that without any input. There is also an app so that you can wirelessly transfer videos to your phone, but I find it easier to just take out the micro sd card and pop it into my laptop if I wanna access the videos, but I guess if I was on the road when I needed to access the video I wouldn't have my laptop so I'd use the wireless function.

How are you viewing the video? If on your phone, it's probably hard to make out the plate. If you copy the video to a laptop you can zoom in on it and see, at least that's the case with my camera. I mean I can't make out plate numbers on every vehicle way off in the distance, but it doesn't need to be only a foot in front either.

I use a DJI Action 3
chinmounted
but it's mostly for my 30-45 minute commute

I have a Garmin 46 ....not bad
Also a blackveu ..exelent. in cars though. You get what you pay for in my opinion.
