Anyone riding a W800?

Agree, great looking bike!

What is the most KMs you've done in a single day?

Have you sat on one at the dealer? How tall are you? Ergos look a bit tight for a taller rider. Seat cushioning notwithstanding, the compact rider triangle might affect long-distance comfort.

Here's a 6'2 person with 33" inseam on the W800:

Seems like it would fit a smaller rider. Here's me, on the same bike. I fit on every bike... :ROFLMAO:

I'm 5'7". I'm sure I wouldn't be squished on one!

These have always caught my eye. However, I could never find one at a price point that was attractive enough to steer me away from a Triumph. Admittedly I’m not a new bike shopper. Looking at used, there is just more to choose from Triumph over a Kawi for this style of machine.

Not helpful, I know. I see the appeal and like the bike.

Kawi missed by not putting a sight glass on the bevel drive cover. That would have been so cool.

I like retro including the W800 but it doesn't always work. I'm not sure if the W800 falls into that category.

Two seater Thunderbirds turn heads but didn't seem to open wallets. Low sales in the 50s and similar in the 2Ks

I think Triumph has nailed it with their 1200 models. The 900's are nice too.

The Kawi is nice, but overshadowed by the Triumphs in my mind.

I like like the retro look but with better brakes. And suspension. And engine.

Definitely a restomod/modern classic kinda guy. If I had room in the garage, this would be one of the bikes in it:

Honestly, as someone who remembers the original R80GS, and the 1000 cc. variations I'd rather save some money and buy one of those. The R9T version pictured is just some tarted-up, budget version of BMW's twin. It truly is a street bike with a throwback paint job and seat cover suited primarily for Starbucks' parking lot.

I'm surprised that you haven't gone out and picked up a R100GS from the late 80's in the black & yellow bumble bee scheme. Slap on a good rear shock and DR400 forks 9From what I've read) and shock/impress/humble your friends on the logging roads etc. out there in paradise.

Haha, you're putting dangerous ideas in my head!

But if I went "retro" peformance, it'd be slightly more recent. Dream bike right here. Well one of them at least... :ROFLMAO:

I tried both w800 and Bonneville.

I liked the riding dynamics and handling of Bonneville more and went with it.

Found a pristine 2012 Bonneville 865 with 1200km for a steal...been a happy camper ever since.
