Good news bad news….
Good news….i hit 185lbs on the bench again! I weight 175lb
Bad news….this scared the hell out of me when I lifted it above my head and the piece snapped…
The ones I'm looking at from IKEA use the metal cleat system.
Hardest part will be finding the studs and ensuring the stud finder is a good quality one.
100%
This is the main reason that I always ask here first because I trust the knowledge held here much more than Reddit or other sites.
On another note...how hard is it to assemble / mount IKEA kitchen cabinets? MP Contracting has a nice gig to install and while I'm confident in my abilities...
My biggest issue with the basement is that it's about 78" without any floor/ceiling so meeting the 80" minimum is very difficult.
And unless I go lift it up, or get a variance to the code then it's a non starter...of course there's also the non-code version of the work that can be done.
EDIT...
Nove Scotia new 'Financial Measures (2026) Act'...
A whole bunch of things, including the below:
create a $500 levy to be paid every two years on electric vehicles and a $250 levy to be paid every two years on hybrid passenger vehicles as of October 1, 2026...
This site is getting unusable on mobile sometimes. Takes forever to load, and sometimes doesn't load at all.
Wait a few min, try again, no issue. 10min later, won't load.
Better on a desktop/laptop browser, but mobile has been fairly bad.
My biggest concern is theft. Theres a handful of neighbours that has their cottage garages broken into and things disappeared.
Besides that…I’d def build a shed for the cottage as it’s easier than basement…and the basement is easy to break into.
Hell I’ve broken into the cottage when I locked...
Good call on the smoke detectors.
I'll have a chat with my electrician for best recommendations / steps forward.
Right now finalizing the mini-ex rental. I'll let you know when so if you're bored you can join the fun as it's not too far.
Thanks @backmarkerducati and @GreyGhost for the suggestions.
An alternative method is remove all exterior paneling to inspect the insulation and make sure all is good.
Then cut the bottom 18-20” of the remaining panels to gain access and run wires.
Once that’s all said and done, inspection...
That's awesome thank you! That method would mean that I need to rip out the entire house with wood paneling and then close it up after the inspection.
Was hoping to do room by room to make it still usable. But if this is the only way...so be it.
Some thoughts on a KLX230 from a Reddit community going cross country…
TLDR: horrible bike for the task
I’d recommend the VERSYS or VSTROM 300 versions instead if you’re going small displacement.
