I'm curious, which insurance company asked for an appraisal?

If it's under 5 years old (on the list of top stolen vehicles), that may have been the reason for wildly different quotes. The disclosure of that installed system is what I mean - maybe the previous policy did not have that info.

Mine was a 2001 Ninja 250 in red. A rod ended up blowing and it was toast.

@Gaoler did the question of anti-theft device come up? Asking as the CR-V is one of the highest-stolen vehicles, and some companies require adding a device, or charge more.

TD has been much cheaper than every other company I quote with. Only cooperators come remotely close to them in my scenario.

Only reason I have collision on my bikes, is cause it costs about $30/year. Comp at $100 deductible costs me about the same.

This seems very expensive for someone in their early 40s - regardless of being a new rider. I know people in higher-risk areas that are younger, brand-new to getting M2, and paying less for more CCs. Shop around, and consider moving car and home to another provider that may offer bundled discounts.

Car and bikes dropped in price this year with TD. Home increased.

A CB500f and my partner's v star 250. Ironically back in the day (2010), I sold my 2nd gen SV650, and got much less than what I paid. With any luck, I'll have a Ninja 1000 shortly, since the riding position in my current SV650x is too aggressive and not great on my neck and shoulders.

Very much outside budget. Ideally a sport tourer for under $10k, so Concours seems more realistic, just window shopping at the moment. I'd really have no intention of buying your bike now, so wouldn't want to ride it with that in mind.
