Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

They need to make a lot more L2 chargers and put them everywhere. I can think of only 2 hotels I stayed at since I got my EV where they had chargers I could use overnight. The vast majority of them don't. Why not? Putting chargers at hotels seems like an obvious early step to ease the transition...

How does it work on motorcycles with auto cruise (eg multistrada), can you choose dumb cruise if that's what you prefer? edit: after some googling it appears the adaptive element of cruise cannot be disabled on a multistrada

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

In an attempt to reduce costs, a few years ago Tesla decided to rely solely on cameras instead of other systems (radar, lidar, whatever) on their cars. This is one of the biggest pet peaves of Tesla owners. My own Tesla has this problem. For example, for the auto-wipers function, it uses a...

It's probably the tow rating. It needs to be able to tow a lot to be considered a serious truck. I think if they build a car in a class where people aren't normally concerned with tow ability (eg sedan, smaller SUV) then they should be able to get away with a much smaller generator.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I think the Chinese manufacturers are getting PHEVs right. Many of their PHEVs have electric ranges over 100 kms, while not a single PHEV with 100 kms range is available here yet (the coming Ramcharger will be the first). I think if one was available, I'd rather have a PHEV with an all-electric...

I'm a big fan of the 2022+ Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Over 60 kms of electric range. Also lets the driver choose whether you want all-electric mode or to use the gas engine. Lots of nifty features like a 3rd row seat which folds into the floor.

Used ones seem to hold their value really well though. I'm looking for a 2nd bike for 2-up touring duty as my girlfriend says my bike is too uncomfortable for anything longer than half an hour. sellers are asking $6000 for 2005 models, and anything newer than 10 years old is over $10,000.

Are you just using a standard 5-15 plug now? You might be able to replace it with a 5-20 (depending on the gauge of the wires). It'll only boost your charge speed slightly over 5-15 but it might be worth it.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I snagged a brand new EV charger from the King of the North auction for $60. The same one retails for $200 on Amazon. Charges my car at 32 amps or 7KW, for my car that works out to about 10% per hour. They seem to sell a few different models every week: Search Results | King of the North...

I guess it's one of those things that's up to the officer to decide. I'm sure an officer having a bad day could say, your plate is registered to a tesla but I see you're driving an audi, here's a ticket. I've heard of people getting ticketed for having a clear licence plate cover.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Just checked it, and don't see anything specifically about badges, but I bet the cops would get you on the "false statement" like in section 12(1): Every person who, (d) uses or permits the use of a number plate upon a vehicle other than a number plate authorized for use on that vehicle; (e)...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

It's actually illegal to rebadge a car if you're adding something that isn't true, eg replacing a tesla badge with an audi one. If the car is involved in a crime and someone who doesn't know cars well reports it based on the badge, now the cops are looking for the wrong car.

Jay Leno test drives the new Scout prototype: I'm really liking the new Scout SUV and pickup. I love the idea of a gas range extender too. Unfortunately these cars will be a bit beyond my budget.

BC Roads - What to ride, what to skip?

Remember, on these roads the limit is 80 or 90, and the roads often go through small towns where you have to slow down to 50. You are not maintaining highway speeds all day. I rode from my house to thunder bay in one day, that was like 1300kms or something. Tough but doable if you start riding...
