post bike crash?

its not that bad, better condition than my. I guess the frame sliders did their job

yup, ones been shaved down going to get a new one for my right side, was sparking up too when i went down the rear break pedal is shaved a bit swell

Sorry to hear about your spill but thanks for the entertainment. 20+ started threads on stupid **** like picking up chicks on bicycles downtown and what to do when your bike gets wet and over 193 posts all in 2 weeks. Then you dump the bike today? Lol wtf man!??!??!

LOOOOOOL guess i didn't ask enough questions

hope you didn't Wax your tires after you washed it last week ;)

na i checked for oil/wax on the tires after washing

Also, anyone know if I am turning incorrectly? For this left turn (curved road) i pushed left to turn left, however when I was turning i noticed the bike started to straighten before the curve was over.

Was I not leaning enough?

Before you start receiving well intended but bad advice, find yourself a copy of a video called "A Twist of the Wrist II".
Watch it a few times, cornering is explained with a good bit of science to back it up.

Without all the specifics, it's hard to know what went wrong, but I'd rather have a bike more upright if it's going to slide than more leaned over.

sry to see you went down, at least you are okay. Just remember everyone either drops, crashes,or low slides their bikes when they're starting out new, it happens to the best of us. Keep your heads up and just be a lot more careful next time

I fixed a 2012 650R for a customer from this site about a month ago, he dropped at low speeds on the left side. Originally he though about re painting the fairings to fix them, but I get a good discount from Kawi and offered him a great price on all new parts....I replaced his upper fairing, side fairing, middle fairing, handle bars, left engine cover + gasket, and mirror...All those parts cost under $600

While we were fixing the crash damage we also did some custom work, we added a full exhaust system and did some powder coating, and bike turned out great IMO
IMG_1933_zpsa81d45fd.jpg

And he did not notice the bars were slightly bent until I inspected the bike and notified him, so take a good look at your bars, they tweak easily on this type of bike...You might not even be able to see the bend until you remove them and measure them on a bench...

and where are you located? i wont be fixing these fairings because I probably am going to drop again, but if you want i'll purchase them for future use, might go to your place for my mechanics/mods aswell. Also to get the bike checked out.

how much $$ to fix the bar/ straighten the forks?

Sharp looking bike! You did a great job. As for OP, don't ride out of your comfort zone. Also, I don't know if you ride in the rain but be careful when making turns at intersections because the paint on the ground is extremely slippery when wet.

I try to avoid rain now after what happened last week, yea im going to practice turns a bit more and braking, don't want this to happen again!

thanks and yeah i took the one at rti, in all honesty you go about 20km/h maybe a bit faster on those turns, in reality driving on curves is much different with the wind factor, i seem to not turn as smoothly and my turns are wide.

so you buying the 650? ;)

i have a 09 600rr... so no... not gettin a 650, but i really like the looks of the latest ones. great bike.

you will get the hang of the turns, just dont push it too hard too fast.
watch this, and dont pay attention to the whole going fast thing, its all about technique.

someone else reccomended it and i watched it already i think i've been doing some stuff wrong

for gear as a jacket i have a kawi mesh armour jacket, wasn't wearing it this time around, going to get gear soon, would have saved my arms if i had it on

On the bright side, you've only been riding 8 days and have completely eliminated your chicken strips....on one part of one side of the rear tire at least. I'm not a gear Nazi, but you put sliders on your bike to protect what can be replaced, but ride squid and don't protect what can't be replaced?

watch it a few times, go out and ride then watch it again. you will pick up something else each time.
get out on the bike on Saturday and sunday mornings before there is any traffic.
i dont know what your neighborhood is like, but keeping it in a quiet neighborhood to practice is a good idea. lots of stop and goes, rights and lefts. im lucky, my area is big and quiet, also has a couple S turns in it. i can recomend a few in mississauga, but i dont feel like having you zip down my street so ill direct you somewhere else lol.

im good with my textile jacket up to +25 if im moving.. but thats my limit.
i have a joe rocket mesh, but its silver and i just want a different one, so im giving it to my buddy that just got the silver 650r.
i think im going to grab the icon street jersey... i think its called the hooligan.
ive also got the icon striker vest but i think ive only worn it once, because, well as you learned today you need arm coverage.
i still like my joe rocket meteor 5.0... i gave it to my buddy 4 yrs ago, it was still like new... he was wearing it today. great zip off front vents but i think he lost the vent covers lol.

wouldn't say squid, has gloves and boots on, was going to school didn't expect to drop. I got lucky though and have learnt my lesson. As for my back, i am more happier than ever i brought a back pack, it got torn to pieces but my back is mint.

and yes i saw the chicken strips get torn off as i was sliding down the road

haha my neighbourhood is really bad for riding practice no real roads with curves or turns, you can turn into cresents which are all straight, cars are parked on roads and doesn't' really give real life experience for the road.

I am fine on normal turns from lights, its the curves on big roads that are giving me a hard time, honestly I almost wiped out last week on the same road, should have took that warning and brushed up my cornering.

As for big road practicing I don't really have a neighbourhood, I am looking to practice turns at 50km/h+ since those are the ones I am having trouble with, any suggestions? I am farther in markham.

Right, because everyone who has dropped a bike planned on dropping it. I'm not one to judge others based on whether they wear gear or not but hopefully you'll wear it even if you're just going up the street. I also learnt the hard way but thankfully it was on a dirtbike but nonetheless it's still very painful when a bike with a hot medal pipe lands on your bare skin.

dayum sounds like you had it a bit harsher than me, but no honestly speaking ill only wear gear if im going farthur than around the block, this crash wasn't because I had no gear it was because of my carelessness.

I always wear a helmet and gloves but i wont go full out gear down the road.
