NINJA 250 Riders

I ride a ZZR 250 it's a 2004 and it's great, I've had it 5 years now and even guys can't tell the difference. All guys are so impressed that I ride a 600 lol I'm always like yeah.....that's a 250 and then they
get all embarrassed that they didn't know that. And yes chicks who are smart and have a small sense of bikes will be able to tell the difference unless it is the ZZR as even guys can't tell the difference with them.

But all that being said when I hit 25 next year I am moving up to the ZX6R and then hopefully in the future my dream bike the Busa :):):)

Often an easy way to tell is to look at the tires. Smaller displacement usually has skinnier tires. I've had people ask me if my 650 is a 250 because the rear tire is skinnier than that of most 600's.

I have an ZZR250. I agree. Many of the comments of my bike that it looks bigger than it really is. When I was doing the M2 exit test. I parked it beside bigger bikes and it didn't look out of place.

Look for the older ZZR250, full fairings and a bigger perceptional profile. More farkles than new bike + an aluminium frame.

op check the insurance rates on a 250 ninja vs a 300. if they are the same, and you plan on buying new ( i would recommend this since you don't know what to look for in a used bike) take the 300, FI is idiot proof on cold mornings.

That being said the only thing the 250 won't do is straight line top speed, it also isn't the best choice to learn how to stunt ride on... Its fast enough to for highway. Many will disagree with me, but i would recommend pulling out the snorkel and installing a tyga full carbon race exhaust. the tyga is 380$usd shipped to your door and makes a massive performance difference to throttle response and power deliver without having to screw around with the carbs. adds quite a bit of oomph, again its a 250 not a 600s. i regularly lift the front tire shifting from 1-2-3. at wot on more spirited rides.

i've crashed it twice and dropped it hard stunting it. picked it up and drove it home. got it checked, frame, alignment and forks are good.

I'm 6'2 240 lbs.

the most fun you will have in motorcycling is in the corners, and that's where this bike shines. i've scrapped the front footpegs on both sides.
if you're doing highway, avoid the cbr and hyosung. the power band is fairly linear in the ninja, more revs, more power for the most part.
.... Ride and build quality is way better, like Mercedes vs Chrysler. ....
you know they merged right? the crossfire is basically a rebaged slk.

My wife's 250 Ninja died a early death.
Only 32,000km on it and the complete top end was finished.
Every part in the valve train was completely worn out.
I mean completely, not one re-usable piece up there. And of course one valve let loose and hit the piston.
So it's rashed. It isn't even worth fixing because the cost of repair exceeds the value of the bike.

Other than that it was a great bike.
And yes, I had it up to 170, no problem.
That was when I weighed 170lbs

ok so after making some phone calls to insurance companys it seems like i cant afford anything manly to insure so im stuck with a 250 if i want to get any riding done soon

i have a few question hopefuly you guys can help me

1. how do you like the bike
2. what kind of issues does this bike have
3. how is it on the hwy can it keep up and pass cars with no issue
4. i read on the internet that the fastest it will go is 170 is this true?

thats all my question for now but im sure i will have some more as you guys response

thanks
:)

Maybe if you did proper maintenance it wouldn't have...Ever do a valve check/adjustment? I've got almost twice that and its still pulling strong and is ridden at 9k+ rpms 85% of the time...

New 250 rider here.
I noticed I can't really see directly behind me from the rear mirrors.
Is this how it is?

it is for me also. I spend time before every ride adjusting the angle of the stock mirrors. I find I need to shift my body slightly when riding to get a better view of the traffic behind me. The best cure I find is to be aware of the movement of the vehicles in back of me and that involves shoulder checks; I find I do the exorcist thing and turn my head to the side and back as much as I can even letting go of the bars with one hand, usually the left hand ti turn around.

i have a ninja 250 and i love it.
most girls can't tell the difference between a 250 and a 1000
i've had and heard of cases where the bike would be next to 600SS and busas and the chick will like the 250
one of the guys i ride with has a cbr 125 modded with speakers and loud exhaust and chicks love his bike.

i also know of people who started on 250 moved up to 600 and miss the 250 for its agility.

you should also watch this.

I noticed the same thing... I'm going to put on some better mirrors on soon. I heard the 650R mirrors bolt right on, and they have longer stalks.

not sure how big you guys are but i am about 140 and 5'5 and i find that, if, i move the mirror arms so that they are at their longest and point the mirror part in a bit i can see right behind me.

I've topped mine at 176...

I am a mechanic. I took care of it from when she got it.
It was due for a valve check.
The previous owner obviously lied to me about maintenance.
I trusted him.

But still, not one lifter was usable.
Not one valve.
Not one bearing surface.

I think Kawasaki used poor quality steel on this valve train.
