Riding Jeans with CE armor and hip protection?

I normally wear riding pants (Alter Ego or Phoenix Mesh pants) when I'm riding. However, there are days when you just want to go out for 2-3 hrs and just put around and don't really need the over pants. I'm wondering what do you guys use that have good protection in terms of CE armor and hip protection padding?

Velocity Kevlar Jeans. I have the cargo pants. Theyre great, come with kevlar butt and knees, thick fabric and CE soft knee pads and hip pads but fit one size small so keep that in mind.

^this. Also, if you want more protection for the knees you can take out the soft armour and put on mx knee/shin guards under.

do these shrink after a wash?

The same instructions for normal pair of jeans. Wash in cold water and dry on low setting. If you are really that paranoid you can hang dry them. All jeans shrink a bit when you wash. They losen with wear and always feel a bit tighter after a wash.

Just got a pair of Draggin Oilslick pants for 115+ tax, regular 289...
They're pretty nice...

Where's a good place, and a good MX knee guard to buy? I've been looking but don't want to spend more than $50. I was thinking Thor (but I can't find it). I wear sidi race boots though so they have to fit with those on.

Bought mine from Parker Bros on Kipling for about $25, cant remember what brand it is though.

Food for thought: how often does someone land on their knees when they crash? Not too often. How often do they end up on their back and bum? Most of the time. Abrasion resistance is most important for those areas. Regardless of what those riding jeans are made of, they still lack abrasion resistance compared to leather. But it's your choice.

very curious about the Vanson jeans and if anyone has seen/heard of crash results. They have 1000 denier nylon mesh sandwiched btwn 2 layers of denim which covers pretty much everywhere except top front and lower shin area.

I got into a spill when I was new and i have scars on the top of my foot, front of my hip and my knee.

I'd imagine if you went down and have a hefty knee guard on and boots, your leg wouldn't even touch the ground. Probably your hips will get ground. I don't have any hip guards save for the little flaps on my dainese BP.

I will check ParkerBros out, thanks Rafiki

Pretty much all lowsides will involve knee abrasion/injury and lowsides are pretty common on motorcycles.

I used to wear draggin jeans and icon knee armour when I was doing around town duties back home. The icon knee armour is really tight if you have calves though lol. I think alpine stars makes some that will fit under jeans too.

Which draggin jeans did you have? I saw another pair in the denim style but they were a stretchy one but still too tight for my taste. They were literally hugging my quads like skinny jeans...a bit too much for my liking. The Oilskins are a nice straight fit without the stretch and made of a heavy duty black cargo type cotton material.

On a similar topic I'm looking for kevlar khaki's right now. I was going to buy a pair of Sliders but I can't seem to get them in Canada.

Anyone know where you can get kevlar lined khaki's in ontario?

All the kevlar (or similar) jeans I tried had the knee protection way too loose, which stayed in place only when sitting in riding position on the bike. The armor certainly wouldn't have been staying on the knees in the event of a fall. Even standing, it would hang half way between the foot and the knee, and I tried quite a few. So I bought Dainese Knee V Armor/Shins, and they were great! Low profile, you couldn't notice they are there. Highly recommend!

Since I'm doing track only now, I have them up for sale in case there is any interest, here:
