Not that I've ever heard. I've known that they were trying to get Victoria closed, as far as the parking structure, for years though.

There was a recent student election, and in their campaign video they mentioned that they would like for Gould to be closed down to Church. I'm not sure how much success they'll have with that but it's something they are trying to get.

They plan on closing Gould all the way down to Church st. =O

Bond street doesn't have the wide street for u turning or the parking complex like victoria does. Unless you count the back alley before the Heidelberg building leading back to Church street and the intersection at dundas.

I think the admins know this as well and won't close off the rest of Gould.

Given that the rubbish pickup is within that area, and that there's a need to be able to get stuff from shipping/receiving to the rest of the campus, I doubt that they'll have much luck there. What they really need to do is start a campaign telling the students that Gould, Victoria, and Bond have areas that are outside of the pedestrian walk region, before some student steps out into traffic and becomes road pizza. It's going to happen.

*EDIT* Oh, and it's not up to us, it's up to the city. That's why the current closed area took so long to set up.

For those wondering about where to park their motorcycle at Ryerson University, it's really easy.

Gerrard St, O'Keefe Lane south (contrary to sign), ride on sidewalk and park on sidewalk by bike racks.
Bonus: There's a security camera on the corner of the library building to watch your motorcycle.

We were all parking here when Gould St was open. Eventually we started getting ticketed.
When they closed Gould, the meter maid stopped coming around. I just kept on parking there and never had a parking ticket.
A meter maid isn't going to go out of his way to take a look at where cars and vehicles don't have access to... but you do have access. Just follow the friggen map. Be responsible about it though, don't park next to the fire hydrant, block the laneway, or draw too much attention and you're golden.

Since the image arts building is finished construction, parking next to the Lutheran church (lane way) on Bond is open again. Green P is on Bond also.
I prefer right next to the Heidelberg in the walkway leading to the student centre :D

The church doesn't seem to mind having people parking there, but there's still some final construction going on at the Image Arts building. That area is where the dumpster is located, so the alleyway is partially blocked. I would recommend waiting for that to be completed, before using that area to park bikes in again.

We are in Kristyn Wong-Tam's ward. Given the hard-on she has over motorcycle parking on sidewalks and her recent push to eliminate the free on-street parking, I fully expect there to be a blitz this Spring.

I always wondered how broke college kids manage to afford ten thousand dollar bikes and their near equivalent insurance costs.

Gonna point out some errors:

#1. Ryerson != College
#2. OSAP is based on your parent's income before being 4 years out of high school. If your parents are poor, you're getting $13,000. 4 years out of high school w/o job? $13,000
#3. The most expensive tuition I've seen is $9,000 undergrad including textbooks (my current major, if anyone knows of something that hits $10k, I feel for you).
#4. Most university or college "kids" have additional "on the side" funding from parents.
#5. Scholarships, personally speaking, amount to around $5000-6000 extra a year.
#6. Motorcycles don't cost $10,000. If they did, the only thing we'd be seeing around York, UofT, Ryerson, Waterloo, Western, and other schools would be Ducati SS or brand new 2010+ SS bikes.
#7. Insurance costs aren't that bad for anyone that isn't stupid like me and waits a year after they get their M2.

#8 (VERY IMPORTANT): There is a reason why these "kids" are in college, though there are exceptions to the rule, most of them are pretty damn smart and know when and how to bend the rules.

Hopefully whoever the old witch was that I had my meeting with a couple years ago is lost in a woods somewhere and won't shoot this down again...

After random google search found this thread. Any progress? I'm interested.

I'll be riding to Ry in Sept... Not excited for school again.

Make sure you say hello if you see me and my blue and white naked GS500. I'm usually parked behind the Eng building, or in the motorcycle lot.

Drop me a line if you want to do any sort of meet up or ride... I'm gonna be spending a lot of time there this fall so it'd be nice to have a break and talk bikes :D

Yea, off of McGill behind the theatre school. It's alright, I believe there are cameras there, and the security guards keep an eye on it. No chance of a car hitting your bike there, too

hmm maybe ill start parking there. you have to pay year fee though right ? think its like 90$ or something
