Looking for a recommendation for a mechanic to come to my home to do a safety certification on my bike. The bike is not plated/insured, so i cannot bring the bike to a shop. Any ideas?

I have heard Ted from Rosey Toes will do house calls if your in his area.

Looks like Scuba Steve is correct. I found the reason in another thread ("3-day safety" or something like that)... too lazy to link, but it's explained there.

Edit: Post #49 in 3 days and still no safety

Lots of references to safety station rules but below should be enough.
5. It is a condition of a licence that the licensee,
(a) own or lease the premises in which the inspections are carried out;

So unless a mechanic owns or leases each house/apartment building/farm/driveway/condo a safety is done at.....................

well then all my bikes have been certified illegally, oooooppppssss

and the hundreds of bikes all around the GTA are also illegal
And if people keep their mouths shut the person who does this will be able to keep doing it. If it keeps getting publicized he will lose his licence to do safeties. It is definatly not legal and could get someone in alot of trouble.

your the one who said its illegal to certify not at a shop. so you should have kept your mouth shut from the get go if you dont want people to get in trouble,

Scuba keeping his mouth shut would have done nothing... you are the one naming names!

It is definitely not legal to safety outside of the licensed shop. I know this first hand because we got a shop at work and MTO comes by to check out everything.

Not legal you have to take the bike to a shop.

Read the rules on the safety, this is a false statement.

EDIT:

should heave read the rest of the thread lol... I stand corrected.

But still when I looked at the safety rules pretty much all the checks can be done outside of the shop.

Perhaps a mobile inspection station is what is being used, thus legal.

Whether or not it is physically possible to do the requisite tests outside of a shop is immaterial. The license to do such tests is contingent upon them being done in the shop, that is licensed to do so. A certification, that is done away from a shop, is an invalid certification.

I agree...

However riding of the bike for example will occurs on land that is neither owned/leased by the shop.

The brakes need tested at a set speed this would require a test ride, and I am not going to bother looking up the speed but it is in there if you look.

It is illegal to do safety inspections anywhere other than your "licensed" address, which would be your shop. I know this because I have a licensed shop and has an mto officer that checks up every so often too remind me. Lol

If you guy have someone that is doing your safeties on your driveway or wherever.
DO NOT post it on a public forum for their sake.
