two-stroke bikes on the road

One time a buddy dropped by with an RD350 and let me take it for a ride. I had a '70 Bonnie at the time. When I got back I said it's not that quick, I took it up over 6000 rpm and it wasn't so much. He laughed and said that's almost up to where the real power starts.......DOH! Either of those bikes would be pretty cool now.

Pretty much in the 2K range give or take a couple of hundred. Plus in order to qualify it has to be appraised yearly or something?, stupid conditions like that. Every year I keep thinking about putting it back into running condition again (probably needs the carbs set up again / cleaned, and everything else checked over properly since it has not been on the road for any extended period for quite awhile), but the insurance up front is just stupid.

Oh well, I think it only appreciates every year so it doesn't hurt to keep holding on to it I guess. Someday would love to spend the $ and get the bodywork completely repainted, stock decals re-done etc., hopefully my next scratch & win ticket will help with that !

Heh.. coming from paying nearly six grand a year for car insurance two thousand doesn't sound all that bad at all to me.. then again I've had quotes in the facility (ten plus..) range for six hundred super sports. Oh the joys of being in your early twenties :D

I love my two-strokes.

Someday dream project for me.
RZ350 with CHeetah 500cc upgrade....and R6 forks, swingarm, and wheels and brakes.
Sounds like a great project!

And my other RZ...

Definitely one of my favorite RZ350s.
Not usually a fan of GP exit exaust, but looks great on here :D

Thanks! The Jollys are where it's at. Our friend John has them now... Not sure if he is going to use them or just add them to his collection.

This thread is missing some yamma-gamma pics!

I do know where there could be an '88 RZ350 coming up for sale. Red and white, some repainting, but properly done, original pipes, and ridden daily. 50000 kilometers or so and a welded crank. PM me if anybody's interested. It'll be under $3000.

My brother and a couple buddies had RD350 & 400s back in the day.
Great bikes, and no issues with them.

That's where those Jolly's went. I might have to see if I can persuade him to sell.

Here a pic of the gamma :

I have a thing for the older Yamaha & Kawasaki air-cooled 2-strokes myself. Also don't mind any of the late 80's and early 90's 2-stroke race replicas. My mechanic has one of those TZR250 reverse cylinder bikes posted above. It's such a cool bike and goes pretty good too.

Good luck getting your old Suzuki 2-stroke on the road OP!

Nice pictures. It's been a while since I have seen a two stroke with Rocket decals.

I know Kelso very well and am curious to know how the last shot was taken.

Here's something I finished last spring,1975 Suzuki T500 dressed as a 1970.
Crazy fun to ride, but other projects are calling so it's for sale this spring.

NICE ride mike, I used to have the 72 H1 500 was a sick bike hard to keep the front wheel down .Although was hard to maintain always had trouble with the points

touched the points in 3 seasons. Good oil and gas.

Will get some maintainence this winter

These bikes are so awesome.
Mike...I can see why you ride that one more
Brian... sick sick photo, I can only imagine how long it took to get that set up
Chris...good luck with the sale! If your next project is as awesome... make pictures here!
Psycho Biker...if the stars align I'll try to get the bike and then work overtime to make it run lol

It's awesome to see the bikes in their natural habitat instead of searching for bikes and just seeing a factory photo...keep em coming!

No phasing out thankfully, I've got 2 on the road.
Is that a MC21 gamma guy?
It's a MC18 R2/4J. Got a 21 swingarm to put on it though... most likely gonna get a 21 bottom end as well. Maybe 21 fairings as well... or might go the mc18 r5/6k terra edition.
Don't you have a NSR250 as well, MC21?

That's a nice RS250. You should put up some recent pics (nsr too).
If your looking (us 2 stroke guys always seem to be looking), nokturnal has some RS/RGV spares.

Yes, we got some parts from nokturnal, I missed out on the ohlins shock though. No thats a MC 16 I got.My picture files seem to be too large ill have to figure it out.
