I got my speeding "invoices" in the mail :D

- 5kph over while in Stuttgart in August. Photoradar ticket. rental company is charging me a 15 Euro admin fee and the ticket offense is worth 25 Euro :D

- Another 10kph over somewhere outside of Stuttgart, again a photoradar ticket, another 15 euro admin fee and ticket is 40 euro :D

- I must have been speeding in a section on the Autobahn (contrary to popular belief there are speed limits in some area's on it ) 10kph over 15 euro admin fee and ticket for 40 euro...

So far nothing from Austria, Italy or France... maybe those are in the mail !! :D

- I was warned not to speed in Switzerland so I kept it to the limit or just under to be safe. Someone was caught doing 25kph over in a previous ride there and got a 1000 francs ticket ... current rate of exchange puts that at about 1300 bucks ! They had told me that the radar camera's in Switzerland in the towns themselves are sometimes set to trigger at 1kph over and ding ding 20 euro's hahaha

makes me laugh that we beotch and complain about getting 15kph over tickets here....

I like the idea of speed cameras personly.......yes to the few million of us who do speed and drive/ride well over the limit will be ****** for a few months. But, they too will see the benefits of them. Yes I'm getting older and well maybe wiser, I doubt that part..lol., but I like the thought that everyone will be doing the limit safely hopefully and you won't get the soccer mom's, late for workers, or just the insistant people trying to zip past and infront of you just to make up 5 minutes on their way to where-ever they're supposed to be.
I'm in....slap them up on permanent posts like in England, post up signs to where they are, put them in vans, up granny's skirt for all I care as long as they are the final word, no court fights, you earned it you pay it. Period! IMHO...if your vehicle breaks the law you pay for it period! If you stupidly lent it to someone who you know is going to break the law by their driving habits or not, that's your problem! Take it up with them, not try and weasel your way out of it in court.
Pay up....move on...learn to respect the idea of the camera and what it is designed for. They work well in England and all over Europe....get over it. Please put them up here!

If you want to speed.....there is what is called track days!

I would be all for speed cameras as long as we can reduce the amount of police who are only out there to write tickets. Just think how much we would save in wages and tax dollars. Also like the idea as have you ever come across a cop who has any real kind roadside discrecion ??? I sure havent its all about getting quota and maybe a pat on the back and moving up to a higher position within the dept. No different from anyone trying to climb the corporate ladder. Keep the big guys happy and reap your reward!!!!

I agree with the cops, but, just think about your statement for a minute..? If you were caught going over the limit with a camera....pay up, no discression from an officer, nothing but a bill. That is how it should be...IMHO. Have I tried to talk my way out of a speeding ticket, yep...I'm not stupid...! We wil try anything to get out of paying it's only natural. But if we have no action to take, technology saw you and took a pic....too bad...pay up...I like it....no court congestion, whining to officers, plus they can actually go out and try and catch bad guys for a change.
Perfect world in that small section of it..IMHO.

Let's forget the cameras and attach a laser cannon to the radar instead.

If you're stupid enough to drive fast you, and all your passengers, deserve instant fiery death, without any form of due process whatsoever.

no, i disagree, he gets multiple tickets and multiple admin fees, why not just do the tickets all at once...he has very little course to protest them being over here...or rather he can protest them, but the cost will be astronomical compared to what he has to pay, and now he potentially has 3 tickets on his license...what i don't like is if you travelling down the road doing the speed limit, but traffic is travelling must faster, she the other folks get tickets, but it puts you at risk...stupid system...no wonder in england they get so many speed camera set on fire...invasion of privacy...

Thing is...that doesn't happen. When I drive in the UK where the speed cameras are or where there's a radar speed camera warning sign, people drive like they are all saints. It's actually quite relaxing. Same thing when I drive in parts of the US where the traffic enforcement is pretty heavy handed. People drive like saints and it's actually relaxing to drive.

I know.. Let's put 40km/h speed limits on the 401 and then have speed cameras every 200m!!!!!!

The issue that I have with cameras is that it is the type of thing that Hitler and his buddies would have instituted. Kinda makes fighting in two world wars a waste of time.
Plus, the cameras are not there to reduce speed and save lives, the governments don't give a damn about that. The cameras are there to make money.

The speed cameras in the UK are posted at the limits for those roads unless there's roadworks. So frequently at 70mph on highways.

I never said whether it was a good or a bad thing...just how it changes driving habits.

Godwin. End thread.

A wee bit of speeding isnt the issue, its the ones who double it or those drivers who dont respect the left lane as a passing lane and respect everyone else on the road.

I agree with cameras in urban/busy areas but on an open road/expressway sections with little to no congestion the speeds should be higher especially during warmer months. (Eg london to Windsor stretch)

What rental agency were you with? I doubt you'll receive anything for the French & Italian offenses. My last euro speedcam hits were in summer of 2010 (1 on the way to Paris +70km/h, 1 on the way to Annecy +35km/h, and one boner accidental one in the French-Italian tunnel while going to Milan.. +25km/h) and nothing came of it... knock on wood.

Hopefuly next time I'm in France I don't get raped immediately after getting off the plane.

We should put speed cameras to ticket people driving TOO SLOW!! Really, people who speed are the least of our problems...people who suddenly burst out of side roads or cut people off really close are a bigger problem.

If there's 1 km of open road and no other cars that you can see for that 1km and no side roads...whats the harm in speeding (except to yourself). Speed limits are already too low in my opinion (Except for residential/school zones). How much more advanced are our cars and traffic controls and city planning? (scratch that last one).

When I need to get somewhere, it doesn't matter if I'm late or in a rush, I want to get there as efficiently as I can. Why do I have to limit my speed to 60 km/h because of a sign when there are no cars, its a dry day on a nicely paved road...? Where's the sense in that? It's because people are distracted or just plain dumb that causes accidents. Maybe we should give more tickets to tailgating rather than speeding, because those who don't leave enough space are the ones who will hit someone. So what if you're speeding but you're leaving more space around you?

To continue on with the majority of the posters here.....why have any signs on the road at all????
Why not just a free for all....that will get rid of 90% of all cars in the first month....right?

Governments need to make money to keep this over priced world we live in up to our standards! Ever been to a place that doesn't get all of our benefits and actually see the difference in conditions? I bet most of you haven't. That doesn't mean Young st. either....lol

The majority of the posters here must sl in their teens or early twenties by the sounds of things......what a joke.!

If we're going to have a gigantic government boondoggle that nannies us further, let's go the whole nine yards. Forget this speedcamera bull. Give us Google self-driving cars. Besides the odd moment or two where the traffic clears a bit, nobody is really driving anymore.

Think of all the civil servants that would become redundant when the vehicles can't be caught making even the slightest mistake.

Sister's 40th anniversary is next month. She's 3 years older than me. How's your math?
