Left hand on thigh.... why?

I see it all the time, but I could never understand it. Even on my CBR for a couple of hours in traffic or on highway I don't feel any fatigue keeping my hands on the handlebars.

Keeping one hand away from the handlebar just seems dangerous as it really inflates your reaction time... Why do people do it?

I call it the Captain Morgan look.lol Not really sure why people do it.

It looks cooler.

Its a change of position. I do it for the same reason I drive with an arm resting on the door. It reduces my reaction time but its comfy. More often though, I'll lean on my arm while its resting across the tank. Allows me to relax in slow moving traffic and not take up extra weight on my wrists.

The reason why would probably be best described by a video.

However, resting...changing positions etc...All good things. Some of us aren't as young as we used to be! lol

It's the "I'm so cool I don't care that I'm on a motorcycle" look

I can see the cars behind me through the O my arm makes....otherwise all I see with my mirrors are my elbows....

ps. resting the right arm on the gas tank helps too

Riding for a few hours in the same position is like pretending to be a statue...I don't know about you but I need to change the position my back is in, I need to give the hands a break from the grip position they are in and stretch the legs a bit too. This helps change things up for a bit. Anyway the really cool way to go is standing on your seat with both hands off the bars.

Do you know who I stay away from on the highway? People driving with two hands on the wheel!! :-) Nervous Nellies...

Agreed! After an hour on the highway on my CBR, traffic moving nicely, no need for passing or weaving, ya I'm going to change it up. I don't know many people who can maintain the same position for 2 hours, and by many I mean any. Everyone I know drops a hand once they find traffic they like.

I tend to lean to my right and rest my elbow on my knee, with my left hand on my leg. Its by far the most comfortable position on my CBR.
