In just one hour, 10 out of 12 in the pack busted for street racing.

All things considered, a very nice day of catches indeed.

Now let's see what effect the civil forfeiture proceedings will have.

note to self: stay the F*&# away from BC...

I cant imagine seeing a chopper on my ***.

Sorry. Total of 10 bikers in 3 separate packs.

Only matter of time before Ontario gets helicopters?

Did you really think Ont. doesn't have aircraft?

History
The OPP has owned and operated airplanes and helicopters since 1974; currently we maintain four aircraft. The fleet consists of a Pilatus PC12/45, operating from a base in Thunder Bay; a Cessna 206, operating from a base in Orillia; plus two Eurocopter EC135P2+ helicopters, operating from bases in Sudbury and Orillia.

York and Durham have helicopters.
Back in the day (night) they used to use them on the car racers and coordinate road closures/mass busts with their cruisers on the ground.

Toronto has helicopters and airplanes too they just don't have the money to use them often.

Why stay away? Only seems a problem if you're riding like a complete jackass.

Yeah, 180km/h and 200km/h is definitely territory where you're well aware you're ****ed if you get caught.

They can lose their bikes for good? Wow, at least in Ontario you get your bike back after a few days. If you didn't know before, now you know, don't go 200km/h on the highway.

Incorrect. TPS has no aircraft of any sort.

edit: they may have an airplane

There was that whole pilot (test) project to see if a chopper would be viable back under Mel Lastman but the funding ran out.
There was talk of corporate sponsorship and all that but it didn't pan out - no money for it to continue.

In any event, TPS can call on YRP or DRPS and 'borrow' their coppers. They've done this before.

I think that the penalty for ANY racing of any sort on a public street or road should result in permanent loss of your bike and your M license.

Seems everyone has forgotten about this...
Ontario threatens to crush street racing cars before they hit the street

didnt know that either. do seized bikes go on police auction where people can buy it for cheap?

Yup. The federal government gets rid of seized assets and surplus government assets through a half dozen Crown Assets Distribution Centres across Canada. http://gcsurplus.ca/mn-eng.cfm

Some Ontario government surplus and seized assets can be found here. http://www.dsbn.edu.on.ca/Purchasing/gsoa/default.php

T
here are other Ontario government auctions, but I don't recall exactly where at the moment.

Edit, found out why I couldn't find it. It changed.
Where can I get copies of the ministry's vehicle auction schedule and a list of vehicles to be auctioned off?

The Ministry of Transportation no longer runs the government vehicle auction program. As part of its efforts to build partnerships with the private sector, the ministry has transferred delivery of this program to a private company, Manheim Auctions.

Problem with that, is the definition of "racing".

Ontario's definition would suggest that blinking an eye the wrong way would be "racing".
