How do you deal with ******* cagers?

Since I've gotten my bike, I've come across a few jerks. I've always tried to make a point that when I was driving and saw a bike I would make extra space for the rider, or wave him/her past when I could. My dad's rode for a long time and I've 2up'd with him a lot, so I try to be very courteous. That being said; there are a number of folks that ride your *** while you're on the bike or they try to squeeze into a space that you've claimed as your buffer zone. When I'm in the car I'll flip people off when needed, but I'm very hesitant to do so on a bike, as it's just to easy for them to do something stupid and hurt me, or even kill me. Someone rear ends your cage you get whiplash. Someone rear ends your bike and you're under their car. Do I just concede and move over/out of their way? Are we just supposed to expect to be pushed around because we have 2 wheels?

New riders are hypersensitive. You'll mellow with experience and let the minor incidences go.

The way I see it is bike vs car the car always wins. Sometimes it's better to give them the space they want and fall back behind them or twist your wrist and get out of there way.

Comes with riding a bike. Just gotta get used to it, be aware of the dangers and do your due diligence.

Concede and move out of the way in the safest way possible for that situation. There are differing opinions out here on what a safe maneuver is, but I won't get into that.

No point getting livid and reacting at the F-tards anyway. However, many times I wish I had something that I could shoot something out of my rear end onto the said vehicle....wait a min, that sounded wrong and right at the same time. But ya get the drift ..

Be more assertive when you drive around cagers. Do not give up your blocking position on the roadway. You have every reason to be on the road as they do.

Thanks for the fast responses! Wow!
I know 1 on 1 the car will win, and that sucks... I'm going to get a helmet cam and record while I'm out sometimes. If I see anything awful or if someone is really being a moron I'll send the footage to the police with their info.

Retro, I know I'm probably being a little on the sensitive side, just expecting more out of cagers, though I can't imagine why I'd feel that way, seeing as most of them drive like tards regardless of who's around them...

Kiterider, I think @$$-less chaps might do the trick.. ;) LOL

Lmao,+1 to the chaps. As for the sensitivity,it is nerving at first but it will fade in time. A sensor bar that flipped the cager the bird as they get too close would be a fun an interestin invention:D

chaps, as described, might work but would make the rest of the ride a bit uncomfortable...

This, I think, would be a better idea:

If it allows for variable direction and trajectory, would work nicely in the given situation

OP, it sounds like you're riding in Toronto.

I've had 2.. not 1 but TWO idiots almost kill me today!
I was so mad that I wished that I had my camera rolling!
I'm considering using it ALL of the time for as a possible source of evidence in case an accident does occur.

One of the tools this afternoon pulled out RIGHT in front of me from a driveway! I swerved and then had to swerve AGAIN to avoid him!
I was in the right lane and the thought he could pull out of the driveway wide and directly into lane 2 to merge in.

Unfortunately I took evasive action and changed into lane 2 to avoid him as we all know that you're supposed to pull out into the lane closest to you and THEN make the lane change.

I IMMEDIATELY had to swerve BACK into my original lane (curb lane) to avoid hitting this idiot.

*sigh*

I forgot to mention that I was in my car today.

Idiots are out there and they'll be idiots regardless of what you're riding/driving.

Nothing you can do about it man, if you want to ride these are the things you need to put up with.Try not to le it bother you and keep a clear head, concentrate on the ride and your surrounding. Let the dumb cagers do there thing and keep out of the way. They want by, let them by.

If I'm looking to pass I'm going to ride someone's tail, so that I can make the pass as safely as possible for both of us. If someone is riding my tail on a one lane, I look for a safe spot and wave them by, same as I would hope they would do.
For people who squeeze in in front of you you can either ride the person in front's tail or slow down and relax more. If its like that I usually get into the right hand lane, less people will cut you off to get into the right hand lane, unless it's their exit, and in that case they leave anyway.

Ive always thought about keeping an egg on my bike and just egg the cars that PURPOSLY get in your way. Most of the times, people dont even realize youre there shich sucks but when they do and dont wanna give you the right of the way (when its yours to begin with), then they should get egged. its hard to wash off lol

Yeah, It used to bother me. These days I can usually predict when a drivers about to do something dumb, and can comfortable avoid them. Lets me just shake my head and laugh at how bad they are. I have the rare occasion I slip up in a small way, and am lucky enough that there was no other car to make it bad. I learn from it and keep it in mind not to repeat that mistake.

Yeah, The person likely knew they couldn't pull into the right lane and accelerate in time without cutting you off, but would have time to get to the left lane, where they would have time to get up to speed. Certainly not a legit move, but I've seen it done before. They likely didn't expect you to jump to the left lane in response.

Had I been riding, I don't know if I'd have made it out of that.
I swerved so hard and quick in both directions that the car was shaking.

ugh.. Toronto. Such is why I ride outside of the city.

Ah, when I first read it, it sounded like you had more time to react. I'd think if you were on your bike it would have been even easier assuming you didn't target fixate. You'd be in the left tire track of the right lane, then you'd move over to the right tire track of the left to avoid (4 feet). Then back into the right lane. Far less actual movement required on the bike than your car to make the same move.

Had I been riding, I don't know if I'd have made it out of that.

Brush it off, continue being courteous and look at the positive's things that happened to since you got a bike. Your not injured, amputated or dead. Now log out of GTAM and treat yourself to some internet porn.
