16.0 miles between two SPOT checks in a 75 zone? No wonder these guys love you ;-).

For Ontarians, aren't the tickets expensive paperweights w/ no insurance impacts if they're from outside of Canada, Michigan and New York? I thought it didn't matter. I thought you could even not pay them if you avoid that state for a few years. (In that case, Nikki would want you to pay up the Az ticket ;)).

I have better ways to spend $400, just sayin'...

Good luck man, ride safe.

Well staying out of the states is pretty hard when you're into touring.... If you dont pay them, theyll give u so much sh** when passing the boarder.... They dont effect ur insurance if they choose not to report it to ontario which means u should probably pay it.

Will you keep us updated daily with photos, stories and videos like Wheelieboy does?

I will try, but I likely will not do updates until I get to my midpoint (LA) where I have one solid week to relax. I'll definitely do so when I return, too. Should be 30-60 days in total, depending on weather and how relaxed I take things.

Dude be careful.... it doesn't take much in some states to get a misdemeanor... that can really f-you up if you want to travel back into the US or get security clearance for certain jobs, plus it can land your *** in jail. OK, I'll stop sounding like your mom.

90 in a 75. He reduced it to 80 in a 75. $120 fine.

Luckily he didnt get me while going 120 ;)

Today was so boring though, I literally almost fell asleep on my bike doing 100 when I was in the Nevada desert. I had to stop and take a coffee break. In Utah, I pretty much saw the same scenery for 1 hour straight. Water on both sides of the interstate and mountains in the far distance.

Tomorrow should be better though.

Ya, I looked into it before I left for the states. As far as I know, Utah doesnt have a set limit where they can throw you in jail. I'm good for tommorow.

holy **** man! i just caught onto this thread now.
A+ for you.
what an awesome trip.

i myself spent some time riding between California,Nevada and Arizona - did about 1,000 miles.
great roads to ride on, beautiful stuff out there.

i dont know where you are going or what your route is, but if you make it down to Dana Point, check out Route 74(Ortega HWY)
best road EVER!!!!
not to mention, make it over to the PCH too.
ride safe! burn rubber.

Fair enough, you raised some good points... lol, I'm sure border guards aren't big fans of arrest warrants on your record.

All's fair and well if they don't affect insurance or the driver's abstract.

Again, was speaking hypothetically - have a clean record at the moment, knock on wood. (And for the first time in years.)

Nice moving picture. I'm amazed you can ride in that position.... being squished against the tank like that. Can you at least stand up on the pegs now and then, or would your stuff move too far forward if you did that?

If you check the thread in Laws/Regulations you will see that 41/50 states have reciprocity with Ontario. That means that they will automatically be reported to Ontario. Nevada and Wisconsin, the states where he received tickets DO report. California, where he got the warning, does not have reciprocity with Ontario. My guess is they will effect his insurance.

He has recourse though.... he needs to find a small law office in the town where his court date would be held and give them a call and ask them if they can change the charge to a non-moving violation. It will set him back about $200 for lawyer fees, but the charge will probably get changed. That's what I did in Virginia last year. They represent you in court and everything..,.. you don't have to show up. You can pay the lawyer by CC and the court on line.

Our experience (YMMV) has been that if you pay the tickets in question promptly so that they don't have to come looking for you, they won't show up on your Ontario record, either. Reporting to Ontario is just extra paperwork for them, and all they really want is your money. May vary from one state to another.
