Scala G4, worth it?

Awesome info, thanks guys.
:)

Kiwi - the Scala will allow voice dial control BUT not all phones do it well and when you add in the wind noise...

I've been using the Motorola 815 and it handles the voice dial commands decently even up to 100 kph with an open face helmet but I have to cup my hand over the microphone.

Slower speeds I do not ( I have a medium windshield - the microphone is partly protected.

Closed helmets shouul provide a much better response but I tried the same rig with a newer Motorola phone and got horrid results - had to return the phone.

So tread carefully - results may vary.
But when it works the Scala is terrific.
g4 SHOULD be better than mine.

is it true you can put some cable from your battery to charge things like you do on a car? like a gps or a phone?
how do I know if i can put it on my bike? whats the name for it?

Thanks for the info,
But I was curious in terms of the iPhone .

iPhone voice control is not supported on the chatterbox but is supported by the amazing Sena MH10 headset.

There you go, read my post #38, but I end up doing #40, easiest solution since most stuff uses USB, I connected it to my plate light wire in the rear, and it sits in my trunk, it charges my iPhone, and my scala, and I also carry a short USB cable for blackberry in case a friend needs charging.
It's so small, by far the best.

Blue Ant has a similar product for $200. Anyone know how it compares to the Scala, which is double the price?

Not double the price, if you widen your search.
In my case, equal. And I got the G4 pair for $425 flat.
Split that in half and see what you get.
With G4 4 riders can connect, 3 riders separate, plus 1 mile is cool.
Audio is really loud, gotta have it halfway or less.
Fm radio, updates, come on man, winner.

Oren just bought one a while back from HK, got it pretty cheap and the quality is pretty good from what I hear.

Cool story bro!!!!!

My Scala G4 Powerset paired to my iPhone 3Gs does voice dial with no problems....

I was told that, just waiting on the iPhone 4 tho.

Pairing is not an issue - having it actually work while riding is another separate issue.
Not all voice dial systems are equal.

F4 is an excellent device. I have it for several months, and it works perfectly. Stereo/mono sound quality is exceptional, speakers are very load even with earplugs. Noise cancellation works better than anything else I've tried before. I use it with Zumo 550, stereo BT dongle and Samsung Omnia II cellphone. After installing MS Voice Command on the cellphone, voice dialing works pretty well. I even can control media player with my voice!
The main reason I did not buy G4 is its horrible design. I can't stand the microphone sticks out of the mounting base. And until Scala changes this ugly "thing", I won't even look at it. BTW, BlueAnt has 2 different headsets for F4 - open and full face halmets.
The other reason is that I had an old (mono) Interfone, and F4 can connect to it for bike-to-bike intercom.
Just my 2 cents...
