Hello, Irwin. I noticed that you have (started) 2-3 threads the last few weeks with a common theme: slow-pace/sight-seeing. Probably easier for interested riders to follow and check on if you confine this to one thread with you as OP. Just a suggestion. Hope to ride with you again soon. Cheers.

Ok, so who wants to get out of town for a ride to Orillia for sight seeing and stops along the way?

Saturday's ride...should take all day.

Head North to Beaverton then onward to Orillia.

Ride Home on the west side of Lake Simcoe (if interested)??

Include boat cruise if participants are interested.

Arrive with a full tank and empty bladder

Meet: 7:00 am
Location: Tim Horton's Hwy 2 east of Port Union (south side)
Leave: 7:30am

Hey! How was the ride?
Did you guys get caught in the rain? I did a few times but not for long!
I went up to Simcoe in the pm + later to the west through the Caledon area.

Hi Niki, we missed the rain completely. (I hope you didn't get too wet).

- a small taste of our journey to Orillia...

We took the scenic route and enjoyed a boat cruise in Orillia.

After breakfast at Tim's (Hwy 2 & Port Union Rd.) we headed North up Brock Road and into the country in a matter of minutes.

We headed east to Uxbridge via Hwy 47, then cut north on Hwy 23, which was both deserted and dotted with farms. Continuing north past Udura we headed east on Hwy 48 and cut a sharp "north" on side road 17 to Beaverton.

Past Beaverton we continued North on Shoreline Road (also called - Hwy 47, 23, and Mara Road). The shoreline of lake Simcoe was dotted with cottages while farmers tilled the flat, fertile soils just to the east. We passed over the "swing Bridge" where the Trent Severn Waterway (lock system) enters Lake Simcoe. At Lagoon City we headed north on Hwy 12 (Trans Canada Hwy), and crossed the bridge separating Lake Couchiching from Lake Simcoe and entered Orillia, and the first "Yard Sale". We parked the Bike under a shade tree and changed into in our sandals and shorts buying our tickets for the Island Princess's one hour harbour tour of Lake Couchiching. (when is this inferno going to end?)

The Captain road his Yamaha 1100 to work every day with his trusty dog on a custom tank bag. He was very entertaining as he described the local history, which millionare owned which cottage and shared some tidbits about Stephen Leacock.

Just one of the "Cottages" on Lake Simcoe.

Orillia's skyline is seen from the boat as it re-enters the harbour.

To my wife's delight we found the entire main street was blocked off for a sidewalk sale....arrrgggghhhh!

After some wings and (one) beer for lunch we continued sightseeing and shopping.

Our journey home brought us back to Port Perry, where I drank several cold ice tea's under a shade tree - looking forward to a cool dip in the pool when we got home...

So we don't ride too hard, don't lean too hard but we shure do enjoy getting out of Toronto.

What to do next weekend??? Ha Ha!

Hmmm....anyone want to join me - Playing Hookey Ride next week??? (Usually Wednesdays).
